KiloBill

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit kilobill.com (“KiloBill”, “we”, “us”), how cookies and advertising work on this site, and the choices you have.

The bill checker does not collect your data

Everything you type into the calculator, such as your bill amount, kWh, state and home details, is processed in your own browser. It is not sent to us, saved on our servers or shared with anyone. When you close or reload the page, it’s gone.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time. These server logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept only for a limited time.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply to you and don’t add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. KiloBill itself does not need cookies to work. However, the advertising on this site, described below, uses cookies and similar technologies (such as device identifiers and local storage) to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, the calculator still works, but the ads you see may be less relevant.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads. This is how we keep KiloBill free.

Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you view and how you interact with ads. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google’s advertising policies.

We do not control the cookies third-party advertisers use, and we don’t receive any personal information about you from them beyond aggregated reports (for example, how many times ads were shown).

Affiliate links

Some links on KiloBill are affiliate links, for example to Amazon or to services that compare electricity plans or solar quotes. If you click one, the partner may set a cookie to record that you came from our site, so we can earn a commission if you buy or sign up. We don’t receive your name, payment details or what you bought.

Your privacy rights in the United States

Residents of California and several other states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and Oregon, have rights under state privacy laws. Depending on where you live, these may include the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or its use for targeted advertising.

We don’t sell personal information in the traditional sense. However, the use of advertising cookies for personalized ads may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. To opt out:

We won’t treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland

If you visit from these regions, we ask for your consent before ads use cookies or personal data, through a consent message that appears on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link shown at the bottom of the page when that message is in use.

Children’s privacy

KiloBill is intended for adults who pay household bills. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Links to other websites

Our pages link to government agencies, utilities and other sites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
